Bob Berlage, Communications Director
Big Creek Lumber Company
3564 Highway 1
Davenport, CA 95017
Dear Mr. Berlage:
The Executive Board of The Rural Bonny Doon Association regrets that
a
reference to Big Creek Lumber Company in the July/August Highlander
might
somehow appear uncomplimentary.
We assure you that the reference was intended to be lighthearted.
We
certainly did not intend to suggest that the McCrarys in any way influenced
any decisions of the County Public Works Department regarding repairs
to
Swanton Road.
We are posting a clarifying note on our web site where this article
appears.
We apologize for any annoyance to the McCrary family that might have
been caused by the article in question.
Sincerely,
Miriam Beames, Corresponding Secretary

Equestrian Center Prohibited from Full Operation
At a hearing in Superior Court on March 16, Judge Robert Yonts denied
a request by Vigne Farms Equestrian Center owners Jim Beauregard and Amie
Van Dine to expand the number of horses allowed to board there to 50, the
facility's full capacity.
Judge Yonts kept his restraining order in place that limits the number
of horses to 25. The facility, on Bonny Doon Road just north of Smith Grade,
was built last year without permits, and was red-tagged by the county.
The owners have since applied for permits, but as of March 16 the Planning
Dept. was still requesting more information before the application is accepted
as complete.
Assistant County Counsel Marie Costa submitted a petition signed by
30 Bonny Dooners asking that the facility be closed down until it receives
its occupancy and commercial development permits, which could take from
6 months to 2 years.
Judge Yonts implied that he was reluctant to reward the owners by allowing
full operation before they received their permits, but didn't want to penalize
them too much (Van Dine and Beauregard claim they are losing money with
only 25 horses there) by shutting them down, as Ms. Costa requested.
